Tamara Flores - CHINGONA
About
Tamara Flores moves with fearless determination through the colorful streets of Acatlán, Mexico, the hometown of her mother. Her impossibly long braid is a living symbol of strength and empowerment. “Chingona” is a bold visual anthem about carving your own path and owning every step forward. Bursting with color, rhythm and dance, it’s a celebration of identity and the unapologetic freedom to live life on your own terms.

Director's note
We shot in the beautiful town of Acatlán in Veracruz, Mexico, the hometown of Tamara Flore's mom. The whole village was part of the shoot, everyone helped where they can and we did a lot of street casting, portraying the people of the town alongside the choreography of Tamara and her dancers. At one point it almost felt like there were too many ideas and opportunities, people borrowing us their cars, donkeys, horses, houses. We had a lot of time to explore the town and three shoot days full of running around like maniacs. It was a super special shoot and I'm endlessly grateful for all the beautiful people taking part in it.
Making of
We arrived with a first rough concept but most of the scenes were inspired and influenced by the town and it's people. For example the giant shoe, we found it by accident and discovered this huge warehouse with all this hand made sculptures, that they created for celebrations in the village. Also the dancing man, we intended to only shoot one single scene where he just stands and looks at the camera, and suddenly he began to dance, so he became this amazing side character that appears all across the video.
